Intentions of Massage Therapy Massage therapy provided by Jennie Freestone, (licensed massage therapist) is intended to increase awareness, increase feelings of well-being, can prevent disease and injury, decrease feelings of anxiety and stress and their effects on the body, enhance relaxation, reduce pain caused by muscle tension, increase range of motion, improve circulation and offer a positive experience of touch. Personal Boundaries Maintaining, communicating and respecting boundaries helps both parties build trust and feel safe. It is in this safety that massage therapy is most beneficial. If either party feels uncomfortable or unsafe because their boundaries have been crossed, it is important to discuss it immediately. Please self-advocate. You should disrobe to your level of comfort; however if there is a specific area your needing to be worked on, it is suggested that you disrobe entirely. It is your therapist's responsibility to drape or expose only the part(s) of the body being worked on. However, if there is any clothing on in the area you desire to be worked, the therapist will have to drape over the area and work through the sheet, lessening the therapeutic benefit to you. The massage is strictly therapeutic, and any behavior that is outside the grounds of therapy ends the massage immediately. Sanitation
You can be assured that both locations including workstations and common areas as well as frequently touched areas are disinfected/sanitized and properly cleaned after every client. Massage tables are sanitized between every client and table linens are replaced after every client. There is always hand sanitizer available, a restroom to wash hands and tissues in convenient areas. Pandemic

Massage for Children/Minors
Any client under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian for the initial appointment to sign a consent form. The parent is welcome to be present in the massage room. Health Considerations Your massage therapy is not a substitute for medical examination and/or diagnosis. Please inform your Massage Therapist of any change in your status. It is recommended that you concurrently work with your Primary Care Provider for any condition you may have. Please be aware that your Massage Therapist does not diagnose illness, disease or any other physical or mental disorders, does not prescribe medications, and that spinal manipulations are not a part of massage therapy. Contraindications Under certain medical conditions, massage/bodywork may not be advised. Your Massage Therapist will discuss this with you if applicable. It is important and your responsibility to update your therapist with any changes in your health that the therapist has not asked you about. Session Procedures If this is your first session, you will be sent the New Client form prior to your appointment via email. Please bring it in with you 10 minutes prior to your scheduled session. This allows the needed time for discussion on any questions between the client and therapist. Your massage therapist will ask you your healthcare goals to tailor your sessions. This helps maximize the potential of your massage therapy session. I encourage you to ask any questions you might have before the session, so we can allow you to be completely aware of your choices before we begin. It is important that the client is open and honest with the massage therapist prior to your session and after your session with any feedback. In general, the massage you will receive consists of touch, friction, kneading, joint movements, percussion, vibration and stroking of the arms, legs, head, neck, face, chest, abdomen and back unless it is a specific massage or modality. If you are getting a Deep Tissue massage, it is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling. Massage lotion will be used to enhance the therapeutic results of the massage. Massage oil is also available. For general massages you have the option to add in high quality essential oil(s) and products to your session. Your therapist may also suggest an essential oil for your session. There is no added charge for adding essential oils or products, excluding the high quality essential oil technique. Aromatherapy may be used in each session to create an additional therapeutic experience for you. If you prefer not to have a diffuser in your session, please note that with your therapist. Sanitation & Hygiene is of importance prior to your massage, it is expected that you will come clean to your appointment. Talking will be kept to a minimum to create the most healing environment and music will be played to assist in relaxation. You may at times receive guided imagery from your therapist to promote heart, mind, body & spirit healing. Specific Massage If you are coming in for a specific massage, such as Cranial Sacral Therapy (w/out massage) or Chair Massage, you will be asked to come appropriately dressed. Adjusting Treatment If you experience any pain or discomfort during the session, please communicate that to your therapist so that the treatment can be adjusted. PLEASE NOTE: I will cancel / reschedule if: 1) within 5 days of my appointment, I have experienced a fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste of smell, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. 2) Within 14 days of my appointment, I have been in close physical contact (6 feet/2 meters) for at least 15 minutes with a person who is known to have laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 or with anyone who has had any symptoms consistent with COVID-19; 3) I am isolating or quarantining because I may have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 or I am concerned I may be sick with COVID-19; or I am currently awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.
