Celebrate the small and the big moments in your journey. It is the JOY in the journey, not the destination. Though, I am looking forward to the destination of my fitness goals.
So, I have heard Piyo is AMAZING. I wanted to do a workout that had low impact, but results. And while I have a ways to go before I see physical results, how I felt within radiated outwards. The first things that come to mind of how I felt...
I felt INVIGORATED.
I felt MOTIVATED.
I felt HEALTHY.
I felt AMAZING.
I felt like CELEBRATING!
Then I ate a donut later in the afternoon, and one more in the evening and felt like crap. So, I applied some DigestZen essential oil topically to my belly for relief. And I remembered another WHY of my fitness journey - it's about getting Heart Healthy! That treats are okay, ONE donut would have been okay. I KNEW that, and I ate the 2nd donut that called my name anyway. But I am not going to beat myself up about that 2nd donut. Why? Because I can say that I exercised a good 45 minutes today for the first time in a long time (I don't think hiking up 3 flights of stairs multiple times a day will count anymore... well it counts, but not a solid exercise workout.)
So, I took 5 steps forward and 10 steps backwards. BUT I am still very much PROUD of that #1 Workout! It changed my point of view about exercise, it got me excited to do more, and create flexibility in time, keeping the commitment in tact.
This quote was also a good reminder for me. It reminds me of a conversation with an instructor directed to our class when I was going to UCMT, that movement is life. What CAN your body do now? I'm not punishing myself for the two donuts I ate, but celebrating that movement I created in my body and that I can move forward and do better. No matter who you are, no matter where you are at in life, we ALL have room for improvement. So, now what are you going to do about it? What CAN you do?
