Several weeks ago, I had to put my workouts on HOLD, because I just wasn't feeling well.
I think all too often when times like that comes into play, the guilt settles in that we're not doing our part to keep our fitness goals up. And then the slump happens. And the getting back to it feels harder. And what if... comes into play. And the belittling oneself perhaps comes to play that maybe you just aren't cut out for this. And the excuses trickle in that you don't have time... I have seen many go through these motions.
But let's put a SPIN on this and create a different MINDSET.
What if you look at your not feeling good as a sign of strength. That putting your fitness workouts on hold means that you are needing to take care of yourself in the way your body NEEDS RIGHT NOW. That you are respecting your heart, mind, body and spirit enough to recognize that you need to step back from the workouts to focus on another part of your fitness to be able to continue with your fitness workout goals. That you keep in mind that you are amazing, that you felt amazing and alive when you were doing the workouts and you WILL come back to it because of how amazing you felt. But for now, your BEingness needs to be taking care of yourself in other ways and that is OKAY, it is more than okay. What if you build yourself up rather than tear yourself down.
Creating healthy boundaries is one of the BEST things you can do for yourself, God, and your family. When you do that, guilt doesn't creep in. You have JOY in your JOURNEY. You are HAPPY. You LOVE life and you know where you STAND with yourself, God, and your family. And that really is all that matters. HONOR yourself and be GOOD with that!
When we are IN TUNE to our spirit, our mind, our body we will be MUCH better off and healthier, stronger heart, mind, body and soul for it. TRUST your intuition. TRUST that your fitness goals are there, THIS hold is just taking care of your fitness in other areas to be able to move forward with your fitness workout goals.
I can tell you that when I put my workouts on hold, I didn't feel like I took steps backwards at all. In fact, because I was still drinking my protein/superfood shakes each morning and keeping up on my water intake with a drop of lemon essential oil in my glass water bottle, I still felt great because I was addressing what I needed to be addressing.
There was a week that I slacked on my water intake and I FELT it, and not in a good way. Walking up 3 flight of stairs (we live in a condo on the 3rd level) became hard (I was actually out of breath! and my legs weren't happy.)
So, now that I have re-centered myself, by resting, being in tune to what I was eating that wasn't making me feel well, getting massage, energy work and so on, I'm now back to getting the workouts going again and I am EXCITED.
I am adding into my wellness this month, no soda. I haven't had any caffeine for over 6 years now, but I'm also talking about ALL soda. I noticed the other day after having a root beer float that my tummy didn't feel so great. Be in tune to what you are eating that isn't making you feel great. We want to feel GREAT, so we have to make choices to feel GREAT and be at our BEST and continue making FORWARD movement.
